Merzbau vind ik erg mooi (ja, niet alleen "apart" dus, maar ook echt mooi
). Moeilijk om uit te leggen waarom, maar de nagebootste chaos en unieke vorm van architectuur bevallen mij wel. Kurt Schwitters heeft trouwens ook de Ursonate geschreven, die ook is uitgevoerd door Nederlandse geluidsdichter Jaap Blonk. (En van Jaap Blonk heb ik pas nog weer een cd gekocht, gekke werelden zijn klein
maar dat terzijde)
En Dada is inderdaad een hippe stroming.
Salvador Dali. Hij is natuurlijk erg bekend en dus een licht voorspelbare keuze, maar ik ben nou eenmaal een beetje fan. Dit schilderij, 'Metamorphosis of Narcissus' vind ik zelf erg mooi.
"First Fisherman: What's the matter with that boy staring at himself in a mirror all day?
Second Fisherman: If you really want to know he's gota bulb in his head. As Dali explained, in Catalan 'a bulb in the head' corresponds with the psychoanalytical concept of a 'complex'. In this way, the boy admiring himself in the mirror suggest the myth of Narcissus's self-love which, in turn, became associated with psychoanalytical terminology. Dali's paranoiac logic led him to conclude that 'if a man had a bulb in his head it might break into flower at any moment, Narcissus!'
The man drowns in the pool of his reflection due to his self-love. Gala, Dali's love, reflects this paradox which is resolved by the fusion of the separate identities of Gala and Dali into one. "
