ik zeg 1 ding:
edgar allen poe

ik zoek nu even wat background information op zeg maar...want die kerel is geniaal in het schrijven..en is veelal geinspireerd geweest door zijn leven... een leven van sterfte, armoede e.d
Citaat:
van een student

First to understand poe's style of writing you have to understand his early understanding of death. When he was a very young boy (being raised by his birth mother who was an actress, which was not an upperclass or highly approved job like it is today)he would sit in the very front row and watch his mother play the role of juliet in Shakespear's Romeo and juliet. She played the role 6 or 7 nights a week and in front of her very young son. and every performance she would die in front of him as well, because we all know that in the play juliet and romeo both die in the play. well after the play was over one of the stage crew would bring him back into his mothers dressing room to see his mother alive and well after she had just killed herself on stage in front of him. This obviously distorted his ideas of death. what is also ironic about his perceptions about death is that every important woman in is life his 3 or 4 mothers and wife. all died of the same thing. they all died of tuberculosis. His wife which was also his cousin, died horribly of this sickness. they were in such a state of poverty that he couldnt even afford a blanket or even rags to cover her up with through the final stages of her sickness, which if you dont know the final parts of tuberculosis is shivering and coldness up until the point that you die. he could bring no comfort to his wife the only actual warmth he could give her was from their pet cat. they had a long haired cat at the time that he would lay across her body to offer at least some sort of comfort. He lived a life of poverty riddled with death and misfortune. Most of his writings were not appreciated at all while he was alive. the raven for example was published in a newspaper in an attempt to make a little money fast but it was not copyrighted first so everyone who wanted it took it and called it there own leaving poe pennyless and creditless for his work.
zoek eens wat gedichten van hem op! en je werk wordt vast zwaar goed gewaardeerd....je leraar(es) moet zeker wel weten wie edgar allen poe was..
