After suffering a horrible cut from an unintentional headbutt against Nogueira in the Pride Heavyweight Grand Prix Finals, the champion, Emelianenko Fedor, is back in St. Petersburg resting and healing up before he resumes training for his next fight. Before returning to St. Petersburg, Fedor received 11 stitches and had had various specialized treatments on the wound in Japan in an attempt to increase the cut's healing rate.....

Fedor was very disappointed with the way things turned out; and wants to apologize to his fans for not fulfilling their expectations to see a Pride HW GP winner. However, Fedor promises to work hard to get ready to be back in the ring to challenge for the PRIDE HW GP championship as soon as possible.

It is important to note that Fedor was trying to continue the fight even despite the cut. Fortunately, however, the Pride medical team stopped the fight to prevent further injury. While nobody is satisfied with the NC result, our side is determined and ready to provide a return match at the nearest opportunity to settle this issue.
